Realgeneralpractice.co.uk is a training resource platform for medical practitioners, founded by Dr Keith Birrell and a group of GPs.
They specialise in providing coaching for GP Registrars as they take their final GP qualifications. The resource provides online audio training for doctors. The resource also offers patients an opportunity to understand the evidence behind the options that are available to them to manage their conditions. Patients are invited to listen to condition specific, anonymous, consultations with other patients who have the same condition. This involves the patient and facilitates true shared decision making.
Dr Birrell contacted RTC in 2017 when he needed support with the development of the platform as well as assistance with IP and legal advice.
“Paul Marriott from RTC has helped me coordinate getting skilled personnel and funding together for designing and publishing realgeneralpractice.co.uk.
“We received invaluable advice and were provided with a variety of development opportunities to choose from, including Hollow Apps front End and embedded audio and video.
“I was introduced to, and I am currently working with, NHS Digital. I have been adopted into the APERTA Program with a view to them hosting realgeneralpractice.co.uk. The website is in the sandpit now.
“We anticipate that the website will be published by this winter time. It’s a non-profit venture. I will be introducing it to the North East Educators Conference in November and looking for support from co-authors and reviewers.
“We received support to sort out intellectual property of the product. RTC’s Patent Attorney provided us with invaluable legal support.
